ILSA: Independent LifeStyles Assistant

The goal of the ILSA program was to develop smart home technologies to support independent living for the elderly.

The Independent LifeStyle AssistantTM (I.L.S.A.) was a $5.3M joint project by Honeywell and the National Institute of Standards and Technologies (NIST). The goal of the program was to develop smart home technologies to support independent living for the elderly. The project included a 6 month field test where prototypes were installed in client's homes to provide monitoring and reminding capabilities. SIFT personnel has been involved from the inception of the project, to system design, to the data analysis of field test results. SIFT also leveraged the ILSA platform to conduct an initial validation study for its Etiquette Engine.
