Deep Green

The goal of Deep Green is to transform a machines' ability to assist in planning and execution of military operations.

SIFT has just completed Phase 1 of the DARPA Deep Green Program led by Todd Hughes (571-218-4984). The goal of Deep Green is to transform a machines' ability to assist in planning and execution of military operations. The demonstration application is a course of action (COA)planner for Army brigade and battalion commanders.

SIFT designed and implemented the Commander’s Associate (CA) component, which uses advanced plan recognition, modeling, and visualization capabilities to illustrate alternate COAs and possible futures. The Commander's Associate plan recognition algorithms combine speech and sketch inputs to make expressing the Commander's intent easy and natural. The Commander’s Associate passed its entire go/no go tests for this DARPA-hard problem in plan generation. The Deep Green program will continue into 2011.
