A-Team: Army Advanced Teaming

Background

HOMER is a suite of semi-automated intelligent decision-support and mission planning tools to achieve the operations management objectives in air missions. HOMER builds on SIFT's mission planning, execution, monitoring, re-planning, and oversight functionalities, for autonomous mission management of teamed operations.

SIFT Approach

Due to our unique architecture, HOMER also rapidly, yet flexibly, enables mission commanders to maintain both global and highly specific control of multiple manned and unmanned asset teams during collaborative, decentralized mission planning and execution cycles, particularly when communications are restricted. With that, HOMER provides “supervised autonomy” for individual assets and teams without extensive need for communication, providing a natural and transitionable way to plan and execute missions where human supervision is key, and yet highly sophisticated autonomous behavior from unmanned assets is also critical to mission success.
